"I think coming to fish this weekend saved my life"
- 2022 Musky Hunt Participant
Mossy Oak believes the outdoors holds therapeutic powers for disabled veterans beyond medical or clinical approaches and with fewer stigmas. Warrior Musky Hunt recognizes the need for Veterans to immerse themselves into the outdoors, congregate with other men, and commune with service members having similar experiences. I have been invited to two such functions and believe they have made an impact on the local community, volunteers, and most importantly the Veterans.
Various men from throughout the East Coast convened in central Kentucky to support the Warrior Musky Hunt and Crappie Hunt. As a volunteer for both, and the Chairman of the Expeditionary Overwatch lnc. 50LC3, the events have been one of the highlights of my charitable career. 2O22's Warrior Musky Hunt featured a beautiful cabin on Green River donated by Holmes Bend Marina. Four separate sportsmen guided a total of 6 Disabled Veterans throughout the weekend. Don, a Senior Citizen and Vietnam War Veteran, capped off a tremendous weekend with a goliath Musky estimated at 49" and weighing nearly 40 lbs, Lax Reproductions donated a replica for Don's fish of a lifetime. Donated food and accommodations was only surpassed by camaraderie. Most importantly was the healing extended to the participants both on and off of the water.
HEALlNG. The men and women whom have answered the call still need our support. As much as has been
to aid these veterans, many still have hidden scars and still yearn for the camaraderie only the military can provide. Camaraderie is the tonic that cures veterans coping with daily life. Our time on and off of the water talking about similar life experiences, joking as if still wearing the uniform and testifying to the realities of life is curative. One participant's quote opened this short letter. lf one life was saved, how many more can be saved?
All of my best all of the time,

Proud to have been able to attend. Met some great new friends, ate some awesome food, renewed my soul with some inspirational messages from the speakers, and on top of all that got to spend three days on the water with an amazing group of guys and learn something new. BIG thank you to all the staff at WMH and all the sponsors that make these events possible. If anyone is thinking about an organization to support you can’t go wrong with this one. GOD bless!!
